We often utilize the metaphor of the caterpillar becoming a butterfly during periods of transformation.
This metaphor builds faith that transformation is not only possible, but can be beautiful.
Yet in reality, when life asks us -- as it will again and again --to really change?
Inevitably, we get scared.
Reading or thinking about a thing is very different than doing it in your actual body.
In this practice of embodied metaphor, you’ll utilize yoga and visualization to begin to meet whatever in your own life requires a process of chrysalis.
In restorative poses, we’ll hold space for the caterpillar that got us this far, then breathe through the dissolution and rebirth inside the chrysalis. As we emerge, active yoga flows and breathwork will support embodying newfound wings more and more surely. We’ll end with heart and hip-opening restorative postures and yoga nidra, followed by journaling, to seal in the transformations we’re experiencing.
This is a small-group practice, limited to 5 participants. You’ll receive personalized and hands-on support in a safe container for all of the emotions -- grief, anger, confusion, fear, and exhilaration -- that may accompany this current change.
This is a beginner-friendly flow oriented more towards emotion and somatic expression than strict alignment, though some experience with yoga will be supportive. Participants should be comfortable transitioning between hands and knees and standing poses.
All restorative props will be provided. Please bring a water bottle, journal, and pen, and your own yoga mat if you prefer it. (Mats available.)
